People crying about the security of capital hill and having to go through metal detectors before entering the chamber is kinda ironic and sad really.

I guess they don't like the counter-measures they deploy on their own people being used against themselves. Security theater sucks don't it.

I really hope that the security theater will teach them what its like to be in school in modern America. But, I don't see this teaching them to fix anything, this won't lead to anything positive. No kid should feel like that.

Politicians should feel as unsafe as the everyman at all times.

I feel like if Trump is betrayed by the GOP, he could use that against them. He could push for them to be primaried/mess with their voters. No way he would let it slide even if he is banned from running again

I used to think that politicians should probably be armed because the job puts them at a higher risk of violence, but honestly if you [i]need[/i] to use a firearm as a politician for self defense you've already failed. Your security team failed. You failed to take care of people that are mad and call for violence. Ultimately any reason you can think of for a politician to arm themselves can be countered with "but isn't it explicitly your job to prevent this?"

Leave the guns to Capitol security. Boebert could've joined the mob by shooting Pelosi as an insider if she wanted to. No guns for legislators.

If every American feels safe, then politicians should be allowed to feel safe.

If every American has quality healthcare, then politicians should have that same healthcare.

But, if you're a cop, an elected official, or hyper-rich you're a part of a privileged protected class above every other person, even vets. You're legally immune up until you fuck up enough or fuck with other elites.
